FLASHBACK FRIDAY: Callaway Tee Party

Last year on the 22nd of February on a beautiful still summers night, Albert Park Golf Course played host to Callaway’s ‘X Hot Clubs’ launch.   The superb ‘Tee Party‘ celebrated the thrilling new ‘X HOT’ product lineup available for golf lovers and complimented this with a long drive showcase extravaganza, featuring sports stars & celebrities a like.

The ultimate star of the night, was 2010 World Long Drive ChampionJoe MillerMaking a special appearance straight from his home in the UK, with his shiny new ‘X Hot Driver’ firmly in hand, Miller wowed the massive crowd with his impressive blasts from the tee.  The 11th hole was the perfect setting for the star studded event, which featured tall spot lights streaming down the long fairway, highlighting the mammoth drive. With the big man Miller, swiftly bombing shots in sync with  approval roars from the watching guests,  a celebrity Long Drive Contest got under way. Popular stars including, Geelong’s Jimmy Bartell, Socceroo Harry Kewell, Essendon’s Brendon Goddard & Myer ambassador Kris Smith, impressed the crowds with their long hits.  St Kilda’s Sam Fisher took out the top prize with a stand out 337- yard blast.

With the new clubs tried & tested, the real ‘Tee Party’ got under way for all the guests. Callaway had erected a huge marquee structure complete with a back drop of a colossal plasma wall which set the scene for Melbourne DJ, Grant Smillie to spin the decks.  With the party in full ‘swing’ (sorry for the golf pun!) Mr. Collins and his team laid on an array of delicious bites for the packed venue of golf media, celebrities & retailer partners.  A substantial selection of delectable canapés were on offer including the piste de résistance, handmade ‘Chocolate & salted caramel golf balls‘ served on quirky astro turf platters. Whilst you wouldn’t usually associate the 11th hole on a lush fairway to be the perfect party venue, Albert Park Golf Course along with Mr. CollinsRed Bull & Pioneer, certainly proved otherwise. Callaway’s ‘X Hot Clubs’ launch was a huge success and I’m sure all the guests at the golf night would agree in saying, it was no ordinary ‘Mad Hatter’s Tee Party’.
